Exhibition in the Konvikt in Prüm "The four mothers of the Basic Law"
Friederike Nadig, Elisabeth Selbert, Helene Weber and Helene Wessel. They are also known as the mothers of the Basic Law. In 1948, the four women, together with 61 men in the Parliamentary Council, drafted the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany. They are therefore an important part of German history and have shaped the politics of the Federal Republic of Germany. But hardly anyone knows their names, who they were and why they had the privilege of being involved at the time. What would our ever-effective Basic Law look like without the influence of women? Therefore, as Prüm country women, we would like to accompany the exhibition on these four women, together with the equal opportunities officer Christina Hartmer and the Catholic Women's Association.
